I am research officer in the BioChem lab of the Engineering Department. I have a Bachelor in Life Sciences and Chemistry and I majored in Molecular Biology. For many years I worked at the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam in a group that studies mucosal immunology in the context of pediatric IBD and coeliac disease. For me, working at University College Roosevelt is an exciting new chapter in my career. Having the opportunity to set up a lab in which techniques in engineering and life sciences come together is unique in my opinion. Already in my former job I noticed that having students in the lab and being able to trigger their interest and to pass on exciting lab techniques is the best thing there is. So I am very much looking forward to achieving that here at UCR.
