In Zeeland, you can find a beach in any direction. Some of the most popular destinations are Vlissingen, Zoutelande, and Domburg. The Vlissingen beach is home to one of the biggest cinema screens in the Netherlands, but movies can also be seen in Cinema Middelburg at the Kloveniersdoelen. For those who prefer live plays and concerts, the Stadsschouwburg and De Spot are the places to be, and for artworks you can visit the Zeeuws Museum and the Vleeshal. If you prefer sports or the outdoors, students can go for a swim at the pool in Vlissingen, get a membership in one of the multiple gyms in the area, or join the student rowing association MSRA Odin.
One of my favorite memories during my time at UCR is going bowling with my friends at De Kruitmolen.
Middelburg also has some amazing independent stores and restaurants. De Drvkkery sells books and has a fantastic lunchroom; Honeypie is the place to go for a coffee and a slice of cake; Seventy-Seven is one of the most popular bars among students; Il Senso serves some of the best pizza in town; and Plantaardig is the dream of any house plant fanatic.
