Etienne de Jager, MA

I am originally from Namibia, but have lived and worked in South Africa, Russia, Canada, the USA and the UK. I moved to The Netherlands in 2017 and joined UCR in March 2020 as Head of Marketing, Communications and Recruitment. On 1 February 2022, I took office as Managing Director.

I see UCR as small, yet wonderfully diverse college. International, yet entirely interwoven. In the heart of Middelburg, yet truly global. It’s a place whose influence defies borders with a prominent place in the local community, fundamental and strong provincial connections, and an alumni community living, working, and making a difference in every corner of the world. Over my 6-year tenure, I will be working with students and colleagues, academic, provincial, and external partners to unleash the incredible potential of UCR.

Before joining UCR, I worked in marketing and business development for InnoEnergy – a pan-European KIC of the European Institute for Innovation and Technology – Rotterdam School of Management, and Bayes (formerly Cass) Business School. I have a BA in Communication Studies, a BA Hons in Development Studies, and a MA in Digital Technologies, Communication and Education. I am currently pursuing a part-time Associates Degree in Egyptology. And I am a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (FCIM).
