About me

I was born in Zeist and studied mathematics in Amsterdam, specializing in probability, statistics, and data analysis. After graduating, I decided to pursue a Ph.D. and carry out research jointly at the University of Amsterdam and Ghent University. The research dealt mainly with mathematical models for large gene networks. I defended my Ph.D. thesis in March 2018. Following the defense, I held positions at the University of Queensland and Delft University of Technology, where I focused on data analysis and statistics in the context of ecological and epidemiological models. I also taught courses in those areas. At UCR, I teach courses on data science and statistical learning.
