In order to thrive at UCR, we ask you to meet several requirements concerning your diploma, experience in Mathematics, and English proficiency. More specific information regarding each of these can be found in the boxes below.

General Admissions Requirements
Applicants who have or who will have completed at least 6 VWO (ASO), HBO/WO propedeuse*, or the equivalent (e.g. International Baccalaureate, European Baccalaureate, British A-levels, Abitur), are eligible to apply. Applicants who have completed their high school degree and have since gained university credit are also eligible to apply.
* please note that applicants with a HBO propedeuse will also need to submit proof of having passed a VWO Math exam (staatsexamen, Boswell Beta, or OMPT) .

Mathematics in High School
All applicants must have taken Mathematics in high school (Dutch: A through D are all acceptable).

English Proficiency
Since English is the official language at UCR, non-native speakers are required to demonstrate proof of proficiency. The following requirements are applicable:
Take an English proficiency test
Accepted are the IELTS test, TOEFL test, Cambridge Certificate and Anglia:
- CAE (C1 Advanced); minimum score B
- CPE (C2 Proficiency); minimum score C
- IELTS; minimum 7.0 overall band with none of the four skills below 6.5
- TOEFL; minimum Internet based 94

English Proficiency Exemptions
Some students are exempt from the English Proficiency requirement. This includes:
- Students who are native English speakers
- Students who have completed the following education
- Dutch VWO students with an 8 or above for English
- Dutch VWO students with a 7 or above for English + Have your English teacher complete the English Proficiency Form
- Full International Baccalaureate Diploma
- International Baccalaureate students obtaining a bilingual diploma who have taken English A (any passing grade) or English B with a grade 6 or higher
- A-levels
- American High School Diploma + APs
- ABITUR students with English grade 2 (10 points or more)
- ABITUR students with English grade below 2 (9 points or less) + Have your English teacher complete the English Proficiency Form
- European Baccalaureate students who have taken English as L1, or students who have taken English as L2 and an additional four academic courses in English
- Baccalaureát Français International (British or American)
- National Senior Certificate (South-Africa)
- All Indian Secondary School Certificate (CBSE) or Indian School Certificate (CISCE) (India)
