UCR and the US elections

As most of the world, the UCR community is closely following the US elections. On Tuesday November 3rd, we organized a US election night including presentations, a pub quiz, and of course live updates on any incoming results. During the event, and in the days since election day, several UCR faculty members have been providing commentary and background to the elections and various related topics.

During the Zeeland US Election Night, Prof. Dr. Bert van den Brink spoke on populism, Dr. Moritz Baumgärtel gave a presentation on Trump and the law, while Dr. Herman Lelieveldt interviewed a colleague from Reed College to discuss the polarization visible in the streets of Portland. During the virtual election night, over 100 people zoomed in. A short video by the PZC provides a good re-cap of the event for those interested.

At the same time, UCR instructor in International Relations, Dr. David Criekemans has provided background interviews on the relation between the democrats and the republicans and the way forward after the election to a variety of news outlets in his home country Belgium.
