The summer (and winter) of 2017 will again see a number of interesting courses being taught in Middelburg and we look forward to welcoming participants from all over the globe to our corner of the Netherlands. Get inspired by the wonderful courses that UCR faculty and international teachers have put together for you. The full program and application details can be found at Utrecht Summer School!
UCR’s campus is often called “Campus by the Sea” because of its close proximity to the North Sea and its beaches. The main shopping streets and local nightlife are within walking distance from campus. Other facilities, such as restaurants, the library and the bus and train station, are all within a fifteen-minute walk from the dorms. This ensures that a summer course at UCR is the perfect opportunity to spend your summer developing your academic career while still having a holiday feeling in the lovely touristy town of Middelburg.
UCR cooperates with Utrecht Summer School to offer these courses. Applications for our courses go through the Utrecht Summer School website, just select Middelburg as Location or University College Roosevelt as Faculty to find our complete offerings. We are also active on Facebook, like us to have all the up-to-date information! If you have any other questions, don't hesistate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Individual courses are often organised with other institutes, like Duke University for the Decolonial Summer School, Harvard University for the seminar Excellent Learning through Teaching Excellence, and the Human Rights Education Association for the Human Rights courses in 2015. We have also welcomed teachers from other institutes to teach the summer courses, for example, Bard College and Ferris State Univeristy.
UCR also offers housing for the participants of the summer courses. More information can be found here. The housing is on a first come, first serve basis but we do our best to accomodate all participants who would like housing. The housing that UCR offers is the sublet rooms of UCR students who generally live there year round, therefore, this is not hotel quality accomodation. If you require this, please take a look at the many hotels and bed&breakfasts in and around Middelburg.
These courses will be taught on the UCR campus in the 2017 season:
