The Market Square is the heart of Middelburg, and is home to many cafes, restaurants, and the impressive Gothic city hall. On Thursdays and Saturdays, the Market Square holds what its name suggests – a farmer’s market where students and locals can purchase fresh fruits and veggies, bread, fabrics, and much more. In summer, you may come across stalls loaded with antiques, a music festival, or a beach volleyball tournament. In December, the square is transformed into a winter wonderland with log cabins and an ice rink.
