Hi, I’m Febe Verelst (18).

I am originally from Stekene. A Belgian town right across the border with Hulst, The Netherlands. I live in Stekene, but I spend more time in Hulst than I do in Belgium. I went to high school in Zeeland, play hockey in Zeeland and all my friends are from Zeeland. My Major is in Social Sciences and Arts & Humanities. This is also partly why I chose UCR as I am someone with a wide range of interests. That is why UCR is the ideal college for me. Here I can combine my different interests into one curriculum and am I not forced to neglect any interest of mine. The other reason I chose UCR is that I love my life in Zeeland. I wanted to keep seeing my friends and family regularly and I wanted to be able to keep playing hockey at my hockey club, MHC Rapide.

Ever since I was a little girl, I have said that I want to have a career in the press. I am still very interested in this field of work. My first impression of living and studying in Middelburg is very positive. I knew the city already, before coming here to study, and I have always found it a very intriguing, magical place. I have experienced so much at UCR in so little time, but one thing that I find very nice is the fact that we sometimes have class outside. With my rhetoric class, we went to the local park, lied down in the sun, and started giving speeches and telling fables to each other. That is something I strongly enjoyed.
