Hi! My name is Alimohamed Jaffer. I am from Shinyanga, Tanzania and I studied in Kenya. I am currently in my third semester, and I am majoring in Computer Science & Mathematics. I was attracted to UCR for two main reasons: Firstly, the liberal arts and science education I would receive and secondly, the small and wholesome community.
I value having a wide breadth of knowledge from many different fields from history to politics, to science, to engineering. I believe that this makes one a more holistic and open-minded student. This is also one of the reasons why I enjoy being an international student at UCR. The international community at UCR is diverse because we have students not only from all over Europe but also from all the other continents in the world which is quite spectacular to see given the small scale of UCR. I think that the international community at UCR is quite open minded and pluralistic. And therefore, being an international student at UCR is special because even though we may all be culturally different, we can all still bond with no barriers.
