 Karen van den Berg, BSW

Why I like my work at UCR: While most students meet with me because they are to some degree feeling stressed, each story is unique. I feel honoured that they share their stories with me and enjoy supporting them in their journey to better understand their own  strengths, abilities and resources.

What is interesting about my work: The three year study is an intense period in the students’ lives and I am witness to how they gain confidence in their own abilities as well as  better understand their  personal strengths, interests,  as well as limitations.

Karen van den Berg is a student counsellor at University College Roosevelt. She has a Bachelor of Social Work Degree from Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada (1991) and an Undergraduate Degree from Queen's University in Kingston, Canada (1986). While in the Netherlands for one year in 1996, she worked for the Jellinek's Consultancy Bureau writing addiction information materials.
