On July 1st, during the Comenius Festival, it will be revealed whether JRCZ will receive first, second, or third prize. These prizes come with respective monetary awards of 1.2 million euros, 800,000 euros, and 500,000 euros.
JRCZ has been nominated for its initiative to engage MBO, HBO, and university students in working on societal missions within makerspaces. In these makerspaces, students from Scalda, HZ University of Applied Sciences, and University College Roosevelt work on challenges related to water, energy, and food — alongside lecturers, researchers, and industry professionals.
Crossing boundaries
This all takes place through the principles of challenge-based education and technology-enhanced learning. In this way, students are prepared across the boundaries of disciplines and programmes for a world in transition. JRCZ has been nominated in the HBO category. The two other HBO nominees are the project “Hij Gezond & Wel” from Utrecht University of Applied Sciences and “Ready for the nursing internship thanks to the immersive simulation room” from Windesheim University of Applied Sciences.
Educational innovation
The award ceremony will take place on July 1st during the Comenius Festival in The Hague, an event that focuses on educational innovation. The Dutch Education Award is presented as a token of appreciation and as a boost for educational renewal and improvement in MBO, HBO, and university education. The prize is awarded annually to teams in post-secondary education that have developed an educational initiative over the past six years. The award not only recognizes what has already been achieved but also expresses confidence in what these teams will accomplish in the future.
