 Student Experiences

Open Day - Britt Wouters

Britt Wouters.jpg

During the Open Day of University College Roosevelt, I learned more than I did when spending hours of reading about UCR on several websites. The Open Day showed me the actual student community, the buildings, the atmosphere and Middelburg itself, a place where I would be living for the next three years. Current students, helping at the Open Day, took the time to answer all my questions and showed me their rooms at several campus locations. Meanwhile, they shared many stories about UCR and their exciting student lives. When the day came to a close, we ended up on the terrace of a café on the market square, still talking about UCR; there was just so much to share.

Attending an Open Day at University College Roosevelt gave me the final push to apply because after experiencing life in Middelburg I felt that I wanted to be part of it.

Student for a Day - Marjolein Karels

When I first heard about UCR, the combination between a close knit community and living in Middelburg was particularly appealing to me. I signed up to be a student for a day, and I spent two days in Middelburg. I went to multiple classes and got to experience student life firsthand. I noticed how all the classes were very challenging, and I also became aware of the close interaction between students and professors. One of the things, that surprised me, was the way people interacted with each other within the community. Even though I was just a student for a day, people seemed to accept me as part of UCR. We really are a community that accepts everyone for who they are. I felt at home as a student for a day and this is what made me choose UCR over other universities.
