 History of Zeeland Book

On Saturday January 12, 2019, History of Zeeland in the World: Exploring the World from Zeeland (Middelburg: de Drukkery, 2019) was presented to the members of the Familiefonds Hurgronje at their annual meeting in the presence of Prof. dr. Arjan van Dixhoorn (main editor) and Daphne Blanker, Koen van der Blij, Gerjanne Hoek, Matija Kajić, Alexandra Navarro Garcia, and Marijn Thijs (authors and editors). This volume with fourteen papers written and edited by UCR students who took the World History Research Seminar and the Global Humanities capstone course in recent years deals mostly with Zeeland’s past from a global or transnational perspective. It was funded by UCR, the Familiefonds Hurgronje and the Gemeente Middelburg, and marks the fifth anniversary of the Chair in the History of Zeeland in the World, established at Utrecht University in 2013 by the Familiefonds. The Chair was continued with another five years in 2018. A second volume is already being planned and scheduled for publication in early 2021.
