The Roosettes is a close harmony female ensemble that brings together UCR students and Middelburg citizens. The repertoire of the group consists mainly of the classics of American retro jazz and soul music of the early 20th century.
The Roosettes were founded in 2010 under the supervision of Ferra Heskin and Anne Berrevoets. After a successful first year, most of the founding members graduated from UCR, leaving the group in the hands of Zahra Yusifli, Marjan Pantjes and Elise te Kaat. As of January 2013, The Roosettes are run by Joanna Hornik, Tabitha van der Stel, and Roos Dobson.
In the past year, The Roosettes have performed during a number of official UCR events, such as the 2011 and 2012 UCR Graduation ceremonies, the inauguration of Prof. dr. Barbara Oomen, as well as during various official events in the city of Middelburg, such as the Four Freedoms Awards laureates’ dinner or the Zeeuws Vrouwenplatform.
The Roosettes continue to move forward with a continually broader repertoire and a busy performance schedule.
