Before you come to Middelburg
Before we can formally welcome you to campus, there are several things you still need to arrange. We have compiled a booklet for you that tells you exactly what to do prior to and upon arrival at University College Roosevelt. Please read the information carefully and determine which sections apply to you.
Welcome to UCR booklet 2016-2017
Once you have been officially accepted to study at UCR, please remember to register at Studielink and Villex, as mentioned in the information you received after your acceptance. It is very important you fill in the enrolment form above, and return it to UCR. Please note that you can only fill in this form after you have been officially accepted.
Also be aware that you need to have insurance!
Health Insurance is compulsory for everyone living in the Netherlands.
More information about different necessary insurances can be found here.
Students with a nationality from the EEA/EU need to bring a certified copy of their birth certificate with them to Middelburg. This copy, along with a copy of your student housing rental agreement, will be used to register you as a citizen of Middelburg. This is something you can do yourself upon arrival to Middelburg at the municipality offices: www.middelburg.nl.
Your first week at University College Roosevelt
The IntRAweek is a week filled with activities to ensure you know your way around UCR, RASA (Roosevelt's All Student Association), and Middelburg while meeting your fellow students. IntRAweek is an integral start to your time at UCR, so it is very important for you to be there.
During this week, which lasts from Monday to Friday the week before the semester starts, we will teach you all you need to know about the many activities organized by RASA and UCR, but also properly introduce you to our wonderful city of Middelburg.
All first-year students are expected on Monday morning at 14.00 in the Burgerzaal of the former city hall for an introductory session.
To guide you through this week, we will assign ‘parent’ groups, consisting of upperclassmen who act as parents to a new group of student ‘siblings’. Your parents will guide you and your siblings through intRAweek activities.
The Student Councils and Organizations
During your time at UCR, you will encounter our four main student bodies. The first is the student association, Roosevelt's All Students Association (RASA), which organizes the introduction week and arranges fun activities throughout the year. Secondly, there is the Housing Affairs Council (HAC), which exists to make your life easier (really, that's their motto!) when it comes to housing at UCR. Thirdly, there is the Academic Affairs Council (AAC), which represents all students on all academic matters, mediates between students and faculty, and handles students' complaints. Finally, the Elliott board, who are in charge of the Common House Elliott. You can find their welcome letters below.
