The core mission of the Friends of University College Roosevelt program is to support prospective students and recent graduates; bright young adults who can benefit from financial assistance in order to access the opportunities generated by University College Roosevelt.
Friends of UCR helps in two ways:
Provide interest-free loans with extended grace periods; giving the students sufficient time to pursue further education and establish themselves professionally, while encouraging them to support future generations of UCR students and enabling the foundation to become partly self-sustainable within several years.
Support for special educational activities and projects and, in exceptional cases, to individual students, may be provided in the form of grants.
Friendship entitles you to:
Participation in the academic and/or cultural events organized bi-annually for the Friends of UCR. These events are normally held on a Friday or Saturday in Middelburg.
Attendance at the annual Convocation ceremony early September and the Dies Natalis, which is celebrated in January every five years. The next Dies Natalis is in January 2015.
Mention on the UCR website and on a commemorative plaque hung within the main UCR building, the historic former city hall of Middelburg.
Friends of UCR welcomes donations from individuals as well as companies. Company donations can result in invitations to afore mentioned events, or entitle you to special guest lectures from UCR Faculty at your company event.
A small financial investment in a motivated young person at the right time makes a major difference for the students' future and for society as a whole. As a Friend of UCR, you can contribute to – and share in the benefits of – UCR’s continuous development as a center of excellent undergraduate education, the gateway of inspiration from Middelburg to the rest of the world.
